Pick-Up and Delivery

Delivery:

Our standard delivery day is currently Monday.

Individual/custom orders* placed between Monday and Friday will be scheduled for delivery the following Monday. Individual/custom orders placed on Saturday or Sunday will be scheduled for Monday of the following week, not the Monday immediately following the order. We schedule this way to assure that even during our busiest times we can put our full attention to your flowers; however, not every time is our busiest time, so feel free to request a shorter time frame and if we are available to do so, we certainly will!

*CSA and Subscription orders are subject to the delivery schedule outlined by the specific subscription you’ve signed up for.

If you would like your flowers on a specific date, please contact us prior to placing your order to confirm availability and approve any applicable special delivery charges.

Our standard delivery area includes addresses within a 10 mile radius of UCSC. (A Google search of ‘distance from UCSC to destination address’ will give you the information you need, or you can contact us directly.) The standard delivery fee is included when you select products w/ delivery from the drop down menu.

If you are outside of our standard delivery area, or would like flowers delivered on a different day, please contact us directly prior to making your purchase.

Pick-Up:

You may choose to pick orders up at our Bonny Doon farm, at Studio 105 at The Tannery Arts Center, at the markets we attend, or at any of our advertised pop-ups.

Farm and Studio pick-ups require an appointment, but are available for a wide selection of days and times. You may request a day/time on any product pop-up form, or wait to receive an email from us providing both directions to the farm or studio and the next available days/times. The farm address will be provided at that time.

We attend most Santa Cruz Mountains Maker’s Markets in Downtown Santa Cruz (third Sunday of each month). You are welcome to pick up orders at any of these events. Markets reliably run from 11am to 4 pm (heavy rain cancels - we will deliver free of charge if this occurs), and we recommend that you retrieve your order on the early side to assure your flowers remain as fresh as possible. Orders for pick up at markets or pop-ups should be placed at least 48 hours in advance.

Please be aware that our farm is located in the mountains, where weather events occasionally make our roads impassable and disrupt communications. If this occurs, we will get in touch with you as soon as we are able to arrange for your order to get to its destination. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

Requests for specific flowers

While we accept requests for specific flowers, fragrances, design styles, etc. we cannot guarantee that we will always be able to fulfill those requests. The vast majority of the flowers we use in our designs are grown here on our farm, and are planted months - sometimes years - in advance of harvest.

Explore our galleries and journal, sign up for our email communications and follow us on Instagram to get a sense for the flowers we typically grow.

When we purchase flowers from other small local flower farms, we must order in advance, so if you have a special request that you are very attached to, it is wise to make the request with as much lead time as possible to increase likelihood that we can provide what you are looking for.

The bottom line is, it never hurts to ask!

Is LocaLife Farm open to the public?

We wish! Unfortunately, our location is not well suited to public access. We appreciate your interest, and your understanding. We will do our best to populate our Farm Life gallery, Farm Journal, and social media accounts with photographs and narratives that bring the farm alive for you.

Caring for Your Cut Flowers

The flowers we grow generally last between 5 and 14 days in a vase, depending on variety.

The best way to extend the life of your cut flowers is to keep them out of direct sunlight and give them fresh water every day.

With vase arrangements, you can leave the flowers in the vase, to preserve the design, and simply flush the old water out with fresh water.

For bouquets, it is ideal to remove the flowers from the vase, rinse it out and refill with fresh water, trim the bottoms of the stems at an angle (which increase the surface area for taking in water, and prevents them sitting flush against the bottom or sides), and replace the flowers in the vase.

We do not use any hydrating solutions or flower food, though you are, of course, welcome to do so.
